Centenary Eve and Sunrise

July 16th, 2007 by eaglerovers

Dear fellow Eagles,

As the whole world is celebrating the dawn of scouting for the new centenary of scouting, (as in Centenary Sunrise), many countries and groups are having simple but yet meaningful ceremonies to mark the dawn of the new scouting centenary. (Even all participants to the world scout jamboree in UK are also celebrating the event). The state is organizing a simple BBQ gathering and opens to all Rovers, leaders and commissioners. The gathering will start at 8:30p.m. on 31st July 2007 (Tuesday) until 1:00a.m. on 1st August 2007 (Wednesday). A simple recital and renewal of scout promise will be held right after the clock strikes 00:00. As far as confirmed by the organizer, full uniform is not required. The fees for the BBQ is RM20 per person and if anyone of you would like to join this meaningful BBQ gathering of all rovers, leaders and commissioners from Kuching area, please pay up and contact Daniel (GSL) and Alvin (AGSL) before 23/07/2007. Cheers.

The Eagle Has Landed

May 14th, 2007 by eaglerovers

"Paging all members of the crew. The EAGLE has landed, I repeat, The EAGLE has landed"

Yes!! After long waiting, finally we have received our Eagle Rover Crew’s Crew Badge. As we all know, a crew badge is allowed to be designed, fabricated and worn on the right sleeve of the Rover uniform which represents the spirit and the identity of the Rover Crew. This badge is actually editted and transfromed from an actual eagle picture as shown here. The badge is specially designed to give it unique touch which represents the identity of the whole crew.

The badge is made out of 15 different coloured threads which makes it the first badge in the whole Sarawak (if not Malaysia) to have so many coloured threads in a badge. The purpose of many colours is to make the badge looks as real and as close to its original figure as the real Eagle.  If you examine closely on the badge, you will find a protruding, 3D alphabet of ‘E’ on the right corner of the badge which symbolise the Kuching E Rover Crew and right above the Malaysian Scout logo, there is a hidden word of "KUCHING" purposely designed to be concealed in the badge. The badge is laser cut at the border and odd edge for the uneven border of the word "EAGLE". The badge also comes with a plastic backing which makes it durable and keeps all threads in place even though the threads are cut or broken.

The density for the embroidery was specially designed, tailor-made and arranged with high density of threads which actually makes it looks as close as possible to the feather of the eagle. This crew badge is decided and sold to all members of the crew at the cost price. However, a certain limited quantity may be allocated to be sold to others at a marked up price later.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let us now present to you one of the ‘Prides’ (many more to come) of the Kuching E Rover Crew, the EAGLE!!
